BASIC: £35,000 - £40,000 base

Location: Harlow (50% Office Based/50% In-Field)

Commutable Locations:  Chelmsford, Bishops Stortford, Stevenage, Hatfield, Enfield, Brentwood

More recently we have expanded our expertise into other measurement disciplines including texture analysis and powder flow testing, allowing us to move into a broader range of applications in industries including:  food production, inks, paints, coatings, solvents, adhesives, petroleum products, health, cosmetics and packaging.

In 2016 we were acquired by a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices and have since embarked on a programme of further growth and innovation.

The Opportunity:

Is suited to a skilled electrical engineer who wants to take personal responsibility for not only managing a small service, repair and recalibration team of four but who also still enjoys working in a hands-on service engineering role.

The Service Manager will be:

- A key member of our UK team working across the business to ensure the Service department adds value at the highest levels
- A highly proficient hands-on electrical engineer as up to 50% of your time will be taken up with on-site work as well as managing repairs and recalibration of equipment in our laboratories
- Able to develop, coach and build the knowledge of our team of four service engineers to install commission, maintain and repair products
- Comfortable with developing and installing a more customer focused culture
- Experienced at scheduling on-site field service visits to optimise both man-power and resources.
- Highly commercial with the ability to grow the on-site field service business by reviewing the costing structures, controlling inventory and optimising and continuously improving accuracy within the department
- Accountable for managing the creation and updating of service manuals
- Responsible for liaising closely with the Engineering and Laboratory Assembly departments to establish a company-wide training/education policy
- Highly professional and process orientated 
- Able to create a culture of continuous improvement
- Ideally experienced within an ISO 9001 environment

Person Requirements:

- Ideally Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or at least qualified to HND/HNC in a relevant or related discipline
- Proven track record in field service, underpinned by strong leadership and coaching skills.
- IT literate, especially in MS Office
- Experience of working in a formal, continuous improvement environment
- Ability to manage resistance to change
- Strong effective decision making, organisational and time management skills
- Wide range of influencing skills and the ability to communicate confidently with internal management and clients in a language they understand
- Ability to work unsupervised and independently
- Full, clean, current UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel within the UK up to 50% of the time
