Management Accountant - Health Charity - St Albans - £36-38k
A medium sized, growing health charity based in St Albans are seeking an experienced charity Management Accountant. The role represents a chance to join an organisation at an exciting time of growth, and the successful applicant will be involved in a variety of business critical projects.
The role will involve:
-Preparation of monthly management accounts and provision of detailed analyses to aid business planning and decision making
-Meet up with all directors on a monthly basis to review their management accounts and key variances. Work with them to develop revised forecasts along with associated action plans as required
-Interrogate and reconcile all income and expenditure accounts/activity during each month and ensure that the financial statements, balance sheet and cash flows are complete and prepared in a timely manner
-Monthly reconciliation of Alms.net, contacts management database with SAGE financials to monitor income streams to budgetary forecasts
-Produce standard monthly journals to provide for month end accruals, prepayments, accrued/deferred income, depreciation and taxation
-Carry out the month end closure routines and oversee the production of the final trial balance ready for export into the Management accounts
-Plan and direct the work of the Finance Assistant to ensure that Cash Books, Purchase and Sales Ledgers are maintained and reconciled, and payments and receipts properly recorded.
-Oversee the personal and professional development of the Finance Assistant, providing coaching and feedback as necessary.
-Support the Director of Finance in the production of the annual budget
-Work with budget holders to develop monthly phasing of budgets as an integral part of the budgeting process
-Preparation of detailed quarterly forecast of income and expenditure, tracking key shifts in budget assumptions
-Support the Director of Finance and Corporate Services with the production of the consolidated statutory accounts (in accordance with UK GAAP and Charity SORP accounting regulations) Liaise with the charity’s auditors
-SAGE 200 – maintenance control and development of SAGE software, complete year end processes and develop Sage reports
-Part of fully-qualified accountant – ACA, CIMA, ACCA
-Significant experience in a similar role, ideally in a charity environment
-Experience of writing financial reports for budget holders and senior management
-Prior staff management or supervisory experience
-Working knowledge of charity SORP and charity VAT (partial exemption) desirable
-Strong Excel skills
