Systems Administrator - Permanent - Coventry

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Core Hours: 8.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (excl. Bank Holidays)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a professional technical advisory, request fulfilment, diagnostic and repair service to all business users.
  • Take ownership of all relevant 3rd line requests/issues through to completion to ensure all requests are dealt with within agreed SLA timescales
  • Aid and assist colleagues where needed to ensure a comprehensive level of service at all times
  • Operate in accordance with all processes and procedures at all times.
  • Help to develop and maintain internal systems, asset and procedural documentation
  • Undertake scheduled housekeeping and maintenance tasks on infrastructure servers and systems
  • Monitor and manage backup solution to ensure backups are operating successfully in accordance with backup policy
  • Provide ad-hoc extended hours cover
  • Ensure compliance with the Academy’s security policies, both with regards to users’ access levels and permissions and with regards to external network accessibility and security
  • To make recommendations on potential improvements to working practices and performance to improve service levels and customer satisfaction.
  • To make recommendations on potential improvements to infrastructure equipment and services to improve performance, resilience and user experience
  • To undertake any other reasonable ad-hoc request made by the Service Delivery Manager
  • To keep the working area clean & tidy at all times.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Four years’ experience working in a support role providing 2nd/3rd line support.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Active Directory and server based client services (DHCP, DNS, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of VirtualisationTechnologies (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange (2007/2010/2013 & Office 365)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems
  • Extensive working knowledge of Group Policy Management
  • Good working knowledge of Anti-virus, Backup and Software Update solutions
  • Good working knowledge of SAN technologies
  • Good working knowledge of server & Infrastructure hardware
  • Experience supporting networks, including knowledge of VLANs, ACL’s, VPN, etc.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Good working knowledge of Network Lockdown/Management Software
  • Good working knowledge of Imaging and Deployment Tools (SCCM, WDS)
  • Experience in supporting Thin Client technologies
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Microsoft Certifications
  • VMWare Certifications
  • Cisco/HP Networking Certifications
