This Central London Local Authority have recently been through a long period of regeneration and growth are currently looking to recruit an Urban Designer on contract for a minimum of 6 months.
Your new role
You will be responsible for progressing aspects of the teams design work programme including assessment casework on major applications, pre-application negotiations on design, strategic urban design studies, conservation, housing regeneration and relevant policy development. This is a service role and you will be tasked with contributing to the quality of future new developments design and sustainability.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed you will need to be able to plan, manage and monitor projects and programmes of work both using your own initiative and as part of a larger team. You will have to produce clear and concise reports and documentation for both internal and external use.
It is critical that you have extensive knowledge of up to date issues regarding legislative, policy and procedural frameworks within which the planning team operates. You will also have needed to have worked within a similar council based environment either in the UK or overseas and be qualified with ideally a degree in Urban Design or equivalent. A membership of RIBA / RTPI would be beneficial but not essential.
