A challenging and exciting role exists for a professional Buyer that thrives in a busy environment. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, the successful procurement professional will be responsible for maintaining stock at levels to support manufacturing and will support Implementation of strategic purchasing system. The Buyer in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for facilitating the reliable, accurate and readily available data to both internal and external customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading manufacturing business within the automotive sector.

Responsibilities of the Buyer:

  • General Purchasing duties
  • Placing purchase orders securing best delivery, quality and cost for direct materials and sub-contract services in line with the business demand.
  • Issuing requests for quotation (RFQ’s/RFI’s/RFP’s), enquiries, reviewing prices.
  • Expediting / re-scheduling, agreeing delivery plans with suppliers, chasing out-standing items.
  • Handling PO revision changes.
  • Proactively reporting material availability issues to support Operations.
  • Compiling and issuing KPI reports internally and to suppliers.
  • Ensure that the ERP system is kept up to date up-to-date.
  • Liaising with suppliers and manage general supplier performance to build supplier relation-ships. Effectively manage supplier relationships ensuring best practice purchase techniques are adopted at all times.
  • Conduct periodic Account Reviews with Vendors.
  • Ensuring continued communication and good relationships with external and internal customers.
  • Carrying out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.
  • Personal Specification of the Buyer:

  • Professional qualification with a minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Experience of working with MRP/ERP.
  • Able to work under pressure with good negotiating skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt new ideas and concepts.
  • Working for a well established company undertaking a period of growth and expansion and relish applicants with ambitious potential plans for the future.
