I am looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Assistant for my well established company in Littlehampton.

The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for the ordering of materials, supplies, and/or equipment, and the follow through with suppliers on shipment and delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Advise staff as to appropriate choices of standard items to be purchased .

  • Select suppliers, places orders, and may arrange for service contract.

  • Follows up on orders to ensure that materials are shipped and delivered on promised dates.

  • Maintains records and follow up files of purchases, shipments, and related matters.

  • Maintains files of descriptions of available suppliers.

  • May inspect products received for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications.

  • Research and solve discrepancies, calculate payments and adjustments, and process returns.

  • Obtain information from suppliers and customers.

  • Use electronic systems to record, process, and research various financial and purchasing transactions.

  • May assist in the preparation and shipment of items.

  • Perform general office duties such as mail distribution, answering phones and greeting visitors.

  • Use a variety of electronic systems to import and create documents, track supplier information and ensure accurate payments.

  • Stock check stores.

  • Performs related jobs as required.

Skills wise you need to be computer literate and if you have MRP experience then all the better. The hours of work will be Monday to Thursday 8-5 with a 1.30 finish on a Friday with 25 days holiday. Other benefits to be discussed on interview
