English Teacher/NQT

English teacher Job Specification

As a full-time teacher of English, you will have a teaching ratio of all GCSE, with the possibility of some A-level teaching for the right candidate. You will be working closely the Head of Department in developing successful strategies and teaching methods to assist the raising of achievement in English, specifically underachieving students at GCSE level. The CPD for new and existing staff in this school is fantastic, and you will feel valued and supported at every level.

The school

This school is situated within easy access of public transport and motorway networks, and has recently been refurbished and extended after making the transition to academy status 5 years ago. You will have your own teaching room, and have a 20% non-timetable allocation, which includes PPA and departmental meeting and planning time.

English NQT Support

If you are an NQT you will be assisted and supported throughout your initial year with the school by your Line Manager, the Senior Leadership team, and your own Teacher Mentor (the school usually assigns someone from outside the department, who will meet on a weekly basis to check on how things are going).

You will also be allocated time throughout the year for attendance at external INSET and English Standardization meetings, in line with your designated specialist area of GCSE Intervention.
