Full Time

Thermoteknix Systems Limited designs, develops and manufactures thermal imaging and measuring equipment used in world-wide commercial systems, industrial, security and surveillance applications.

The company was founded in 1982 and retains its position at the forefront of the infrared imaging industry with a wide range of hardware and software products designed to meet the needs of a growing customer base.

The company is privately owned and operates from premises in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK. It has been recognised by The Queen's Awards both for Export and Innovation and is ISO 9001:2008 certified.

We are now looking to recruit a Cement Products Technician. The candidate will join a busy production department consisting of the Production Manager, Manufacturing Team Leader and other production technicians. The role would suit candidates who want the challenge and interest of working with a variety of technologies and are happy to learn about technology areas that aren't in their previous experience i.e. a flexible approach is demanded.

This position will be based at our Head Offices in Waterbeach, on the North side of Cambridge.

Thermoteknix Systems produce three products that support the Cement Industry worldwide in their goal to maintain efficient production.

- The TK50 infrared line scanner which is used to monitor the outside temperature of the rotating kiln surface and warn of hot spots that can interrupt the manufacturing process.

- The ThermaScope HDT camera system which gives a high definition image of the kiln flame and cooler zone. The PC based system gives a calibrated computer image of the flame and temperatures of the surrounding area

- The ThermaScope HDC camera system which gives an HD image of the cooler region of the kiln where the cement is being cooled before grinding and storage.

The candidate will be responsible for assembling systems, setting up PCs and taking the systems through final testing and QA before handing over to stores/packing.

Tasks include:

- Setting up a PC with appropriate Windows software, including updating Windows as required. Remove 'bloatware' supplied free by the PC manufacturer;
- Setting up administration and operator accounts;
- Generate from the customer order a feature set for our application software, load software and burn back-up discs.
Set up our software for system testing;
- Light mechanical assembly and testing of sub -assemblies;
- Calibration of ThermaScope HD camera using high temp blackbody and software;
- Final testing of systems, recording of tests and completion of documentation in line with ISO 9001 QA protocols;
- Supporting older products as required (previous models of infrared linescanner eg TK25/30 and Thermascope (SLK) high temperature cameras;
- Fault finding on PC and systems;
- Soldering of cable assemblies and some PCB work.

Sub-assemblies are normally built by other team members as this role is primarily concentrating on the final system testing and taking responsibility for ensuring we deliver a product that fully performs to our standards for performance and reliability and to customer expectations.

Qualifications are less important, but experience and knowledge should be consistent with ability to do component level fault finding on digital and analog electronics and understand production quality issues.

The successful candidate should have experience in roles that demonstrate the skills required for successful technical product production. Ideally, this should cover electronics, mechanics and software. Candidates must also be fully computer literate.

Other important qualities include the ability and enthusiasm to find out about, and work in, new technical areas. A demonstrable commitment to producing 'right first time' quality work is essential.

Salary for this role will be £22-26k per annum (dependent on the experience of the individual)
