My client in Abingdon is looking to recruit a Production / Manufacturing Manager:

- Providing strong leadership for dual production sites
- Assisting the Operations Director with implementation of site strategy
- Develop and execute the yearly manufacturing plan to reach business objectives related to production quality, cost and delivery (QCD)
- Ensuring production process efficiency targets are communicated, owned and delivered against operational plan
- Planning and managing resourcing to meet customer and business requirements
- Managing raw material movements with implementation of goods-in and stock control
- Driving continuous improvement in all areas of manufacturing
- Ensuring products are compliant to quality standards with implementation of line inspection, specification and CNC drawing control
- Managing all aspects of Human resources including recruitment, disciplinary, absence, payroll, appraisals and formulation of training plans
- Ensuring ongoing maintenance of manufacturing equipment
- Make sure Health and Safety regulations are met and a safety culture becomes inherent
- Fostering a lean culture with the implementation of lean methodology's (eliminating all forms of waste)
- Implement and maintain good house-keeping practises for dual production facilities
- Maintain effective communication between relevant departments including procurement, sales, distribution and management

Education and Experience:

- Degree- business, management or engineering discipline
- Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
- Knowledge of human resource principles and practise
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance (TPM)

Prerequisite:

Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment ideally from a bed or furniture manufacturing background however a good understanding of manufacturing practises would suffice.

A strong leader with the gravitas to lead and manage 20/30 members of staff. (This is a shift from 6.00am until 2.30pm therefore not a 9/5 position)

Must see the benefits of a hands on approach being very visible driving the supervisory/team leader structure to achieve all aspects of the day to day activities of the department.

A change agent who identifies areas for improvement with the ability to implement their own initiatives.

An ambitious individual who wants to achieve results with-in their areas of responsibility moreover sees this as an opportunity to develop and progress to a broader role with-in operations going forward.

Ideally would have knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and experience of implementing initiative such as 5's.

Good motivator of people in the modern world and possessing a good understanding of HR practises and procedures.

Experienced at managing safety in a production environment is also key.
