Commercial Manager - New Build Social Housing

South West London

My client is an award winning contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering projects on time, on budget and safely. They are currently seeking to recruit a Commercial Manager to head up their new build activity within the Housing, Education and Care Homes sectors throughout South West London.

As the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for commercial leadership to an operating team within the Southern New Build Division, ensuring that projects are procured and delivered within budget and to the highest quality.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage commercial activities for a number of projects, maintaining a high level of commercial and financial control.
  • Ensure a well thought out and considered budget is prepared by the team and taking responsibility in its delivery.
  • Resolve disputes and legal matters in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that CVR reports are accurately completed and reflect the current position on site and the final profit projection.
  • Ensure that the operational team reports are accurately completed in conjunction with Divisional Director and reflects current status of all schemes.
  • Provide commercial support and advice to Commercial/ Divisional/New Build Directors and surveying teams and take an active role in development of business strategy and initiatives.
  • Ensure monthly operational billings are accurate and reflect realistic delivery on site, monitor and manage monthly changes in billing projections providing reports on major movements.
  • Manager cash collection and invoicing of month accrued income values.
  • Provide commercial and technical support to pre-construction on bids as required including reviewing contractual conditions.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree Qualified
  • Min 5 years' experience
  • Main Contracting Background delivering Social Housing, Education and Care Homes projects
  • Experience of successfully completing large projects up to value of £50m including Social Housing, Education and Care projects.
  • Broad knowledge of construction techniques with high technical expertise across many types of construction and forms of contract including JCT with NEC and PPC2000.
  • High level of commercial understanding and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
