A leading City basedLloyds Underwriters seeks a Trainee Catastrophe Modeller, a candidates with a minimum 2.1 Math/Geo related degree, very strong numeracy, A level Maths ideally Grade A.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably mathematical or scientific discipline

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Access, SQL , GIS and VBA) a significant advantage. If the candidate does not already have these skills they must demonstrate a commitment to developing these abilities

- Ideally some knowledge or experience of Catastrophe Modelling, but this is not a pre-requisite
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Ability to maintain excellent attention to detail whilst working with high volumes of data.
- This role sits within the London Market Catastrophe Modelling Team, supporting our Lloyd's of London Underwriters. To provide excellent catastrophe modelling analysis for the Property Division accounts, working closely with underwriters and senior management.

Key responsibilities:

Receiving exposure data from brokers

Importing cleansed schedules into the RMS catastrophe modelling software e, ensuring that a high level of data quality and capture is maintained

Analysing the effect of new accounts on existing major concentrations of risk. Running account contribution analyses and reports and providing output to underwriters; dealing with UW queries

Analysing the pricing of risks in new and existing accounts

Adding value to the underwriting process by providing insights into the modelled output and reliability of the results

Developing current team reporting and aggregation methodologies to meet underwriter and senior management requirements.
