My Buckinghamshire-based client is looking to expand its business support to the local business community and is seeking an experienced and self-motivated part-time (2.5 days per week) Business Adviser with experience and knowledge of supporting enterprises to help the county’s businesses by providing them with a bespoke account management role.

Overall function of the role:

The Business Adviser will be responsible for providing advice to all eligible businesses, and will specialise in supporting companies from one of three sectors through an account management function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 business advice and support by phone, email, at events and in the business’s own workplace, and following up with action plans for all businesses
  • Providing the lead on supporting businesses from the chosen sector and forwarding to the appropriate person for additional support
  • Providing close monitoring and reporting of all business support activity to the Growth Adviser Programme Manager and Head of Skills and Business Support
  • Liaising with and developing working relationships with other identified providers of Business Support
  • Promoting business clustering as appropriate in order to establish mutual learning, economies of cost, supply chain development, etc
  • Ensuring all systems and forms are used and maintained to the required standard
  • Working within European Regional Development Fund guidance ensuring businesses are eligible for support
  • Researching and identifying new sources of support
  • Working to target ensuring all targets are met/exceeded
  • Ensuring the CRM is kept permanently up to date with all business-relevant information and reporting
  • Providing feedback to the senior management team on all activity and demand for support from manufacturing businesses
  • Researching and identifying new sources of support
  • Promoting the business and providing presentations at events and workshops, Undertaking any other activities on behalf of the client as required from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience and knowledge of advising and providing support to businesses
  • Experience and knowledge of the chosen sector
  • A demonstrable understanding of management accounts
  • A demonstrable experience of writing and preparing business plans and business strategy
  • Experience of building professional networks
  • Awareness of the private and publically funded business support currently available
  • Authority and credibility to build strong relationships and engage successfully with external partners and colleagues
  • Outstanding level of written English, numeracy and interpersonal skills
  • Full driving licence and use of car (with business insurance)

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • SFEDI accreditation
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Knowledge of ERDF funding

This is a fixed term contract to end March 2019.
