Thames Valley Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the Thames Valley area covered by the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. It is one of the largest territorial police forces in England.This is a brand new opportunity to join the Information and Communications Technology department that has the responsibility to support front line policing, crime investigation and delivering service improvement across Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary for the benefit of the public.

The Role:

Your task is to carry out agreed operational procedures by maintaining efficient and effective IT systems. You will need to create and maintain documentation of supported and newly implemented systems and hardware to ensure knowledge transfer within the department. Assist with the implementation and maintenance work, installation of software/hardware and resolve issues using your natural problem-solving skills.Ensuring a timely response to requests for the support, resolution and management of systems according to agreed procedures. To provide technical expertise by supporting projects through the implementation of servers and data in order to meet business objectives.The Essentials:

Able to understand how the application of ICT technology impacts the organisation, business objectives and processes. Able to articulate technical designs and principles to a non-technical audience.Proven ability to work in teams with little or no direct supervision as well as having good written and oral communication skills. Must have capability to travel to different locations across the Forces, partner sites and suppliers and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.Has a good appreciation of the data centre environment and is able to use troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.Has a broad appreciation of structured cabling systems as well as Local Area Network (LAN) technologies.Possesses an understanding of Microsoft Server technologies as well as some knowledge of enterprise backup solutions and virtualisation.Generous Benefits Package:
