Head of Manufacturing

Our client specialises in the design, manufacture and testing of custom built electro-mechanical components and assemblies for critical applications. Through Manufacturing, product development and technical innovations, they are an established global leader in both standard and custom applications with a strong footprint in the Defence and Aerospace industries.

Role Overview

Due to the pace of advancing technology, employee development, senior succession planning and a desire for continuous improvement excellence, the company understand the need to invest in a Head of Manufacturing to champion overall Production excellence.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on all aspects of health and safety across manufacturing
  • Leadership of the manufacturing teams and contribution to the creation and implementation of best practice to improve operational performance
  • Strategy architect for all aspects of manufacturing
  • Accelerating the pace of continuous improvement across manufacturing
  • Developing and building a manufacturing team to support future growth and direction of the business
  • Developing systems, procedures, processes, methodology, knowledge and training material
  • Managing the investment strategy and the introduction of new products
  • Staying current and up to date on technology advances and changes that may affect manufacturing development
  • Line management of manufacturing teams (60 staff)

Who we’re looking for

  • Proven track record of leading successful manufacturing teams in a made to order/ small batch environment
  • Excellent degree level qualification and impressive high-level experience of precision engineering in high tech manufacturing environments
  • Experienced in modern manufacturing techniques and strategies, preferably within automation and other cutting-edge technologies
  • Demonstrated capability with ERM systems and skilled in IT system use
  • Experienced in shift pattern optimisation
  • Experienced in leading, managing, developing and building effective teams and training needs analysis
  • An excellent communicator, with an ability to present data effectively both orally and in written format
  • An ethical approach to business and people. Carrying the company brand and values
  • Experienced with Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC and in developing quality systems
