Independent Financial Adviser (Self Employed)

Purpose of the role

  • To competently provide financial advice, to clients within FCA rules and the firm’s procedures.

Skills and knowledge required

  • A relevant approved qualification and specialist qualification (if required)
  • Holds a Competent Advisor Status
  • G60/AF3 (if Pension Transfer specialist)
  • CF8 (if Long Term Care specialist)
  • H15/J07 (if Supervisor)
  • Detailed knowledge of FCA and the firm’s record keeping requirements
  • Strong customer service ethos, putting client’s best interests at heart of everything
  • Good knowledge of the technicalities and taxation involved in the areas advising on
  • Ability to act with the highest integrity and in line with the strong reputation of the firm

Responsibilities

  • Keep up-to-date with new product, technical or legislative changes within the marketplace
  • Comply at all times with the Compliance, Training and Competence Procedures of the firm
  • Comply at all times with the requirements of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and the FCA Principles, Rules and the Code of Practice for Approved Persons
  • Identify and contact potential clients, gather sufficient client information and identify client needs
  • Analyse information gathered and undertake sufficient research to make suitable recommendations
  • Complete all supporting documentation in an accurate manner
  • Attain and maintain competent status as defined by FCA and the firm
  • Maintain performance standards in accordance with those outlined in the Key Performance Indicators section of the Training and Competence procedures
  • Via self-assessment and feedback, identify Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs to maintain and enhance Competent status and undertake appropriate activity to meet those needs

The Client

Our client is an independent company of financial advisers based Milton Keynes. They specialise in providing advice on pensions, investments, Inheritance Tax planning, wealth and personal protection and mortgages.

They are now looking to grow and add to their already successful team an Independent Financial Adviser who holds a Competent Advisor Status (CAS) and is looking for a company who can support them to grow their business to the next level. This person should be based quite locally as their main office is based near Milton Keynes and they would like this person to be part of their team, in the office 2-3 days a week, where they will benefit from this.

They can offer a very supportive team ethos, collaborative work between advisors on bigger projects along with strong corporate connections, some very large and profitable. Their directors are very well connected in the local area.
