Duties and Responsibilities:

The Company require a pro-active IT Technician with an aptitude for communication and interest in Microsoft infrastructure technologies such as Windows.

The primary role of the Technician is to provide 1st Level support to all ‘users’ with an educational environment. The work will involve logging and resolving helpdesk calls and visiting classrooms providing support to staff and students.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the leading supplier of ICT solutions to schools in the South.

Quickly assimilating new technologies, being able to apply what is learnt and showing a genuine enthusiasm for the technology are critical to this position’s success.

 As a Microsoft IT Apprentice you will be required to:

    Learn how to Support internal systems.Carry out incident diagnostics, resolve with a first line fix where possible or escalate to other members of the team who will train you how to resolve the issue next time it occurs.Update all records in a timely manner, with associated information pertaining to the full life cycle of the support call.Become a valued part of the IT Support team.Provide remote first and second line support and assistance in the use of hardware.Assist in customer project and support activities as skills allow.Remain in contact with customers regarding reported incidents and provide them with the appropriate updates.Raise awareness of regular repeat incidents.Raise problem records for investigation.Assist with Trend Analysis and Problem Record investigations.Ability to follow IT policies and procedures.Liaise with third-party maintenance suppliers to log incidents and thereafter maintain ownership to ensure the incident is closed successfully.You will gain on the job experience and be able to utilize the skills you have gained over the duration of your apprenticeship.You will help the existing staff, and the other sub-contractors we partner with, to deliver the IT Support services to our clients.Learning how to handle the telephone support calls – as well as incoming Helpdesk emails. They will manage the Helpdesk system, ensuring all calls are handled within the agreed SLA.You will be working on resolving the first line support where capable, and work with more experienced staff to help resolve more complex issues.Our clients use (predominantly) Microsoft operating systems and applications, so a good understanding of these would be very useful.Other responsibilities will include updating company systems.
The Support technician will be part of the CTS Technical team, which comprises of approximately 100 staff. The role consists of;

·Under the guidance of senior staff: Provide specialist ICT support that ensures the school establishes and maintains high quality learning facilities.

·Ability to effectively and proficiently communicate (verbally and in writing) technical information at an appropriate level, and in a suitable style, having assessed the audience.

·Consistently deliver a customer focused helpdesk experience, ensuring that customers (users) are communicated with throughout the call.

·Use specialist skills/training/experience to support school’s staff & pupils ICT requirements.

·Maintenance of specialist equipment, check for quality/safety, undertake specialist repairs/modifications within own capabilities and arrange for other repairs/modifications to be carried out by others.

·Demonstrate and assist in the safe and effective use of specialist equipment/materials.

·Provide specialist advice and guidance as required to the school/College.

·Implement agreed work programmes/practices under the guidance of Senior Staff.

·Monitor and manage stock within an agreed budget, cataloguing resources and undertaking audits as required.

·Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

·To be aware of the school’s responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 1984 for the security, accuracy and relevance of personal data held on such systems and ensure that all administrative and financial processes comply with this.

Desirable Skills:

    You should have GCSE Maths & English at C or above and 3 or 4 other subjects at least. You will have enjoyed school, and you’ll be ready for a new learning environment in the world of work.Any interest in one or some of the following is important; trouble shooting, computer repairs, computer hardware, Microsoft Programs.You will need a good eye for detail with a view to improving results on a daily basis.Friendly and engaging personality with good interpersonal mannersComfortable on the telephoneComputer literateBasic programming skillsBasic troubleshooting knowledge but possess the ability to escalate issues as/when appropriateCustomer serviceWillingness to learnA driving licence and own car is desirable but is not necessary – a moped and moped licence might be acceptable.
Training to be Provided

You will be enrolled onto the award-winning Microsoft Partner Apprenticeship Programme. You will work towards gaining the Microsoft certifications MTA Cloud Fundamentals, MTA Network Fundamentals, ITIL Foundation and CompTIA A+.

This apprenticeship is delivered remotely via a live virtual classroom using the very latest Microsoft technologies. These qualifications are globally recognized industry certifications and form the significant building block of IT knowledge for anybody looking to start a career in IT.


Weekly Wage: £150 per week, £7800 per annum – earn while you learn

Daily Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Future Prospects: If you have a willingness to undertake training beyond the apprenticeship, there is the potential of being permanently and fully employed, in the first instance, as an IT Technician. The next progression is to Assistant/Network Manager and then Senior engineer.
