We are currently seeking talented Design Engineers with knowledge of special purpose machinery or automation to work within an established team.
Summary of Duties
Sales Layouts: To prepare proposal arrangement drawings to a Sale Manager's brief for the purpose of being submitted together with our quotations. To innovate designs in cooperation with the Sales and Projects Teams.
General Arrangements: To prepare arrangement drawings for equipment ordered to a brief from the Sales Manager and the Project Manager for the purpose of seeking the customer's approval prior to detail design and manufacture. This will entail researching the appropriate standards and previous jobs in order to achieve the optimum design solution.
Site Surveys: To visit a customer's site to survey existing equipment and buildings. This will require compliance with food hygiene precautions and may require working at height and the use of laser measuring equipment.
Detail Design: To produce new or develop existing detail drawings for manufacture both in our factory and for subcontractors or a third party. Ensure that all designs are prepared in line with current Health and Safety legislation, the Machinery Directive and other applicable standards. Ensure all designs follow the Food Safety and Hygiene standards for our industry. Identify good practice design and establish new or update existing company standards.
Manufacturing Support: To offer support and advice during manufacture to ensure efficient production and that those building the equipment have a clear understanding of the requirements. To agree, in conjunction with Project and Manufacturing Managers, design changes at the manufacturing or installation stages, updating drawings accordingly.

Necessary Skills and Competences
-Competent using Solidworks; indicating at least 3 consecutive years of recent experience.
-To be able to use other CAD design packages. OUR CLIENT use DraftSight, ParaCad and AutoCad.
-To be able to read and understand detailed written specifications and engineering drawings (both on the computer and printed format).
-Be able to create accurate engineering drawings that are easy to read.
-Be able to create accurate detailed written specifications for purchased components.
-To have a good understanding of general engineering principles and a detailed understanding of structural and sheet metal fabrication.
-Have a clear understanding of the operation of conveying machinery and of bulk handling operations.
-Be able to estimate work duration and work to an agreed schedule.
-Have an appreciation of economic design and manufacture.
-Be able to implement good hygienic design for food applications.
-To have working experience of Windows and Windows Office based software.
-To be able to share information, provide support to Line Management, Project Managers and members of the design team.
