Job Title: Quality Engineer

Reports to: Plant Manager

Main Purpose of the Role

As part of a progressive QESH team this varied and challenging role requires a tenacious individual to lead and develop the Organisation in two principal areas: support the UK Leadership working closely with global QESH colleagues in facilitating ISO 9001 Business Management System that is currently under a key transition to the new 2015 standard; The second key function is the quality assurance strategy application and support of the various production lines, using structured methods of identifying wastes and implementing root cause fixes. The involvement of hands-on engagement and strategic thinking for a talented individual looking to develop their career within Quality.

Principal Accountabilitiesof this role:

Quality Systems & Approvals:

- Manage the integrity of the Business Mgmt system and associated document management system. Continue the integration of this Business Management System at a global level to move from a site level management system to a global system in 2017.
- Manage our third party accreditations that includes ISO 9001 & 14001; Achilles; LPCB & FM Fire pump approvals.
- Plan, coordinate and conduct the system, process and product audits against the required standards and develop and conduct structured quality management reviews.

Quality Assurance Planning & Control:

- Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure that departmental quality objectives are achieved. Analyse and present monthly to the key stakeholders of the business objectives statuses and plans to achieve targets.
- Be a driving advocate within the Operations team overall drive to reduce waste & variation (practical application of Lean philosophy
- Ensure the effective application of the organisations non-conformance notification system. Drive Industry best practice root cause and corrective action processes
- Liaise with Customer Services and warranty departments in our territorial regions to ensure Customer satisfaction & structured responses are applied to Customer queries raised and a well administrated returned goods process.
- Work closely with all staff including Team Leaders; Quality Inspection staff; Engineering and relevant parties to carry out structured root cause and corrective action investigations on key problems arising.

We are a multi-Site organisation, although based in Central Manchester reasonable travel inside the UK will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Engineering HNC level and above
- Formal Lean tools and techniques training
- Problem Solving training
- ISO 9001 Management System qualification


- Quality Systems Management experience and a working knowledge of ISO9001:2015
- Time served within a Manufacturing environment
- Assembly plant hands-on experience, HVAC Industry related is desirable
- Some people Management experience required,


- The ability to understand and use modern business systems
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to impart information to both Line Management and colleagues.
- The ability to use common root cause analysis tools and brainstorming
- Ability to stay calm and maintain structured thinking in high pressure environments
- Good IT skills including importantly the use of Excel & Powerpoint
- Tenacious, self-motivation and committed to achieving high standards of output
