We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cost Accountant to work in this fast paced Manufacturing Company.
The main purpose of this Cost Accountant is to play a key role in the development of the Standard costing system including product costing.
Working with the Finance and Operations directors you will analyse the key cost drivers and report on variances including Labour, Material and Overhead. Working with NPD and Commercial teams you will prepare product costings.
Understanding the factory production process for the differing product areas, you shall challenge costings and ensure they remain robust by spending time in the factory observing processes.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, working in a team environment and support other areas when needed.
Key accountabilities of the Cost Accountant role include:Prepare, analyse and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer typePrepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division and by manufacturing process. Review and analyse inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitabilityPrepare Product CostingWork in special projects as requiredEnsure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management Analyse cost accounting data
Key Tasks of the Cost Accountant role include:Prepare Product costingsKPI’s – ensure accuracy, usefulness and understanding of all KPI’s – this will include working closely with factory management to help them understand and have positive impact on their performance.Margin reconciliation – enhance reporting structure with margin information by product and varianceCalculation of daily factory yield, to include investigation work where required.Ensure that financial controls are in place across the factory, which are in accordance to Company policy and actively adhered to.Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variancesWork in conjunction with the Finance Manager. Forecasting – preparation of weekly profit forecast and measure against subsequent performanceBudget –assist in preparation of budgets and measure against subsequent performance.Promotional evaluation – pre and post promotional evaluation with the sales team.PIP (Profit Improvement Plans) – measure actual performance to target and work with management team to prepare an action plan to address any underperformance.Report on breakeven points by productsWorking closely with Manufacturing maintaining overhead recovery rates, labour rates and reviewing regularly reporting any variances.Review manufacturing line standards/efficienciesReview waste on raw materialsProvide cost information for reject forms if required
To be considered you must have the following skills and experience:·Background in cost accounting essential·Background in manufacturing/ FMCG preferable·Accounting qualification: part qualified CIMA preferable, ACCA. ·Knowledge of ERP systems essential
- Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
- Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
- Confident professional with the ability to challenge information and data. Ability to research, compile, analyse and interpret data
