Your role with us

This role will be based in the Northampton Head Office, serving the multiple St Andrews site in the UK.

The Senior Category Buyer will support the Strategic Procurement Leadership team managing a multi-million spend category. This role represents an opportunity to shape the future of strategic procurement within the Charity whilst also raising awareness of professional procurement practice, offering advice and guidance to managers

You will be responsible for implementing successful sourcing strategies to ensure the best practice application of Category Management . You will manage specific procurement categories from the charity’s 6 defined expenditure portfolios, undertaking all competitive sourcing activity and market research necessary to achieve the charity’s cost efficiency and contract coverage targets.

You will be managing specific procurement projects such as competitive tendering exercises, engaging and leading stakeholders & assist in the development and implementation of e-commerce solutions for tendering, contract management, e-auctions and web-based electronic resource planning.


 Your profile

Essential Experience:

  • Indirect procurement.


  • RFQ, tendering, negotiating and drafting contracts.


  • Engaging and managing multi-disciplinary stakeholders.


  • Delivering sustainable cost improvements.


  • New vendor sourcing and development.

Experience advantageous but not essential: 


  • Healthcare sector.


  • Ethical Sourcing.


  • SAP.
