About us

The Nursing and Midwifery Council exists to protect the public. We do this by ensuring that only those who meet our requirements are allowed to practise as a nurse or midwife in the UK. We take action if concerns are raised about whether a nurse or midwife is fit to practise.

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the investigation business unit with specific responsibility for providing support and advice on assessment and consideration of new referrals, risk and proportionate investigation. Our lawyers advise, review and prepare fitness to practise investigations as well as conduct advocacy in some substantive and non-substantive hearings before our practice committees. Lawyers are also required to conduct litigation, where permitted to do so by their regulatory body.

About you

Good advocacy and investigatory skills are essential. You will be legally qualified. Experience of regulatory law (particularly healthcare regulation) will be an advantage.
