ASSET TECHNICAL MANAGER - ENGINEERING AND MAINTENANCE - SOUTHAMPTON

A leading transportation client require a Permanent Asset Technical Manager - Engineering and Maintenance to join their Southampton based Constrcution and Facilities team

To ensure that assets are introduced, managed and maintained in accordance with company Integrity standards through the ownership of inspection and maintenance plans, delivery of performance monitoring activities and completion of condition life cycle assessments.

Responsible for asset management activities using asset stewardship processes and other industry methods

Responsible for the Integrity of assets, ensuring they are appropriately inspected in line with statutory, industry and company requirements

Create and deliver planned and corrective maintenance regimes to identify and address any deficiencies which could lead to breach of statutory duties or loss of service

Ensure that the competency standards for those who inspect and maintain assets are clearly established, recorded and reviewed

Undertake regular reviews of asset Integrity to ensure maintenance standards and frequencies remain compliant

Deliver maintenance plans that achieve asset availability targets at optimum cost, and support the effective creation and management of maintenance budgets

Oversee the timely handover and integration of new assets and disposal of old assets

Manage a defined group of suppliers through the development and adherence to challenging service level agreements (SLAs)

Provide asset Performance reports in order to inform business decision making

Arrange asset Condition assessments and review outcomes in conjunction with operational leads in order to inform replacement strategies

Undertake Authorised Person responsibilities as necessary

Possible areas include, Confined Space, Legionella Responsible person, HV, AGL, LV, Service Clearance, Hot works and Life safety Systems.

Qualifications and experience

An Engineering-based qualification in appropriate discipline is essential

Member of IAM desirable.

Experience of working in a maintenance environment is essential, with specific airport experience being desirable

Knowledge of a wide range of assets is essential, with experience in the following being desirable:-

LiFe safety systems

Drainage and mains water supply

Water Hygiene and Legionella control

Roads, pavements and block paving

Building structure and fabric

Fire Stopping, compartmentalisation, dampers and shutters.

Construction techniques and practice

Practical working knowledge of ISO 55000 is desirable

Commercially minded including contract management and development.

Able to review scopes, contracts and benchmark pricing

Address contract deviations

Monitor and manage safe systems of work

Review competence of staff and subcontractors

Audit compliance to company standards and processes

Ability to communicate, negotiate and influence at all levels

Fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office products is essential

Knowledge of Agresso Business World or other financial software is beneficial

Knowledge of OSHENS or other H&S software beneficial

Knowledge / understanding of SFG20 desirable

Previous knowledge of asset management databases (e.g. FSI Concept Evolution) is desirable

Upload and input of new assets

Setup and alteration of planned maintenance plans

Run and review reports / weekly and monthly

Knowledge of project management techniques such as APM or Prince desirable

Knowledge of NEC contracts is desirable

Technical competencies

Detailed knowledge of maintenance activities and appropriate use on specified assets

Ability to review processes and procedures to improve safety, efficiency or compliance

Ability to create, review and develop maintenance plans

Ability to create, review and develop work plans

Evaluation of new maintenance technologies

Plan and deliver improved system functionality

Maintain technical library of electronic and hard copy asset documentation

Ability to critically assess quality and accuracy of records

Ability to interpret detailed technical data and reports to identify trends and make recommendations (translated to a non-technical format where required)

Create and implement performance improvement plans

Develop Statements of need for new or changes to assets, business cases for replacement of assets

Detailed knowledge of company requirements under integrity, performance and condition steps

Able to establish, criticality, significance and priority of assets
