Team Administrator (Communications and Membership assistant)


My client is a Specialist Academic membership organisation based near Islington, North London. Due to an extremely busy work load and recent growth, they now have a fantastic opportunity for a flexible and administrator to assist with the membership and communications departments. You will be joining a growing but close knit team, initially on a temporary basis with the view to becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the role:

You will play a key role in supporting a busy office environment covering a variety of duties from membership administration, website management, minute taking, digital communication, social media management to assisting with the organisation and running of educational events. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience ideally within a membership organisation

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Managing all social media for the organisation (blog, twitter, linkedin)
  • Assisting the communications manager with all digital communication
  • Website Management
  • Assisting with the organisation of events (arranging refreshments and catering, sourcing and booking suitable venues)
  • Create records for new members and enter all their details onto the membership database
  • Send membership record forms and post information packs and joining packages to members
  • Deal with enquiries and respond to membership issues
  • Undertaking email and written correspondence with members and prospective members including the acknowledgment of new application forms
  • Taking minutes in board meetings (ESSENTIAL)
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations and sending letters & emails using mail merge
  • Setting up video conferencing for seminars, board meetings and events
  • About you

    You will need the following skills and attributed to be essential in this role:

  • Previous membership administration knowledge/experience (essential)
  • Minute taking experience (ESSENTIAL) 
  • Educated to A level or equivalent
  • Excellent command of the English Language both written and verbally
  • Expert in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proven Administrative/office support experience
  • Website Admin management (desirable)
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • A superb communicator with outstanding organisational skills and focused
  • Articulate with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, flexible and approachable under pressure
  • Demonstrates an outstanding level of confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Excellent organisational skills
