We are seeking a hands on, operation and strategically minded Finance Manager for a Charity based on the outskirts of Plymouth. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for providing all of the Financial Management for both sides of the charity. You will be a key member of the company's Management team.

Key duties.

- Prepare and process month end journals, to include prepayments, accruals and fixed asset depreciation.
- Carry out monthly reconciliation of all control accounts within Sage accounting software.
- Collate information for submission to external payroll provider, check payroll reports and allocate costs to the relevant projects and funds within Sage accounting software.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for the Chief Executive, Board, YDT Board and programme managers (including Cashflow forecasts, income and expenditure accounts, claims and returns to funders, as appropriate).
- Prepare a detailed annual budget and forecasts of income and expenditure in cooperation with the Chief Executive and programme managers.
- Analyse variances and support the Chief Executive to identify potential challenges and business impacts and to make appropriate recommendations.
- Participate as a member of the Service Leadership Group
- Support the Chief Executive in developing 3 to 5-year financial strategy for the Charity and its trading arm.
- Assist the Chief Executive in the preparation of funding applications and grant returns.
- Prepare the annual financial statements in accordance with relevant regulatory and statutory accounting standards & prepare for annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure all statutory financial and other records, compliances and related inspections are met on time and records kept with regard to HMRC, the Pensions Regulator, Companies House and the Charity Commission.
- Supervise the Finance team and identify continuing professional development and training needs.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation and advise the Board and the Chief Executive on compliance requirements (including Data Protection Act).

This is a brilliant role for someone who is seeking a challenging, all-round finance role. You will have demonstrable experience in being 'hands-on' within a finance role as well as being able to deliver and work on high level strategy. Strong excel skills; V-Look Ups and Pivot tables are essential as is experience in using SAGE 50.

Candidates will ideally MAAT qualified or working towards an ACCA / CIMA qualification.
