Group Financial Controller
Cambridge, United Kingdom - Our client is a highly successful listed business, which is seeking to recruit a Group Financial Controller.
This newly created role will report to the CFO and will be the lead for the successful reorganisation and transformation of the current finance function to align with the new Group strategy.
This will be a high profile role within the company and will have exposure to all financial and commercial aspects of running a listed business and as such, the Group Financial Controller will be expected to provide expertise, experience and potential to the Group team and be able to coordinate the entire Group finance function.
The Group Financial Controller will be responsible for leading and nurturing future talent to create a high performing, resilient finance function through direct management of the Group team and by indirectly managing the regional and processing teams. The role will play a key part in developing and implementing the Group strategy and will establish short and long term department goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
As Group Financial Controller you will oversee the Annual and Interim Financial Statements and manage the Group audit process and oversee the preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts. The role will be responsible for overseeing the monthly Group consolidation and management accounts – both forecast and actual. You will be required to review submissions of regional finance teams and provide technical accounting and reporting support and be responsible for Board pack preparation.
The role will be responsible for overseeing tax returns for UK companies in liaison with tax advisers and manage intercompany and transfer pricing policies and planning. You will work alongside the NOMAD, Registrar, Financial PR and auditors to ensure company listing is proactively managed and fully compliant at all times.
The primary focus for the Group Financial Controller role, in the first instance, will be to establish a group finance team and introduce group finance discipline and processes across all locations and will require interested candidates to be able to commit and deliver in driving this process forward.
The Group Financial Controller is seen as the successor to the CFO in the next 3-5 years and therefore interested candidates should be ambitious and be able to demonstrate the potential to fulfil this role in the future.
The successful candidate will be qualified (ACA or equivalent) and will have relevant experience in a similar Group role. This role is ideally suited to someone who has trained in a large accounting firm and has subsequently gained experience in Industry & Commerce and is looking for the next step in their career.
