Solution Architect

We're currently on the lookout for a Solution Architect to join a financial services company based in South Yorkshire paying a competitive salary. You will be joining a high energy team that has a strategy focusing on technical innovation and has the backing of a global organisation.

My client is growing its architecture function in preparation for when its Transformation Programme goes live. The solution architect is a key role in scoping, defining and delivering new business solutions. Working with both business and technical stakeholders throughout the motor finance and banking enterprises, the solution architect will be a pro-active self-starter that will utilise their analysis, innovation, problem-solving, technical and communication skills to propose and facilitate the delivery of value-add solutions that help us maintain our differentiation and leadership in the market.

If you've got experience supporting architecture and design in a delivery environment then this one could be for you. There is a number of exciting projects as a part of their digital transformation programme. The role offers flexible working hours and also the potential for partial remote working once you've settled in.


Skills & Experience

Essential – General Technical

  • Experience of working as a solution architect supporting architecture and design delivery in a commercial environment.
  • Has a solid appreciation of architecture, both its purpose, outcomes and approaches.
  • Confident in working with both business and technical stakeholders, including those at more senior levels
  • Enterprise systems integration (web services and standards, messaging, integration patterns and integration platforms).
  • Database platforms and data modeling.
  • Application architecture and design skills.
  • Multi-channel design and delivery.
  • Solution design skills that consider non-functional requirements, such as resilience, performance, scaling, monitoring and audit capabilities.
  • Whilst not an enterprise role (e.g. the focus will be on developing solutions architectures within an enterprise), the successful candidate will be expected to have
  • An excellent understanding of software, data, and technology architecture
  • An awareness of business architecture.
  • Essential – Technology Specific

    Part of the role is to engage with confidence with the design process and therefore this will require knowledge of our applications architecture:

  • SOA and Microservices
  • Java 8
  • Spring Framework & Spring Boot
  • REST / SOAP API web services
  • ESB e.g. IBM IIB and SOA/API gateway technology e.g. DataPower
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment (Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Kubernetes)
  • Containerisation (Docker)
  • Cloud deployment and integration
