Job DescriptionTechnical Maintenance Engineer
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Support the Maintenance Team by controlling the Technical aspects of the machines and supporting with the more Technical breakdowns.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To attend and support technical breakdowns. Ensure all software backups are available of all HMI’s, drives, PLC’s etc Ensure all batteries are replaced as recommended by manufacturers guidelines. Help develop the maintenance team members technical skills. Create and keep updated documentation of how to calibrate, upload, download programs etc to assist other engineers on site. Identify obsolete hardware and ensure spares / upgrading is carried out as required. Proactive use of technology to allow better machine control improvements. Be the first point of contact on the escalation procedure for technical issues. Respond to call outs for weekend and night shift issues when required. Contribute to the improvement and development of the planned maintenance system. Update documentation and software where required to improve fault finding and diagnostics. Support effective diagnostics and rectify equipment problems quickly and efficiently. Support and Facilitate PPS / PFU activities to identify root causes of deficits and manage the achievement of relevant corrective actions. Work flexible hours and carry out additional duties as required to support the Maintenance Team. To maintain a safe working environment and actively support the continuing development of a safety culture across the site.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
KNOWLEDGE
1. Good, strong engineering background, i.e. an understanding of manufacturing processes, (automotive experience would be an advantage). 2. Basic knowledge of business and quality systems in the automotive sector. 3. Comprehensive understanding of equipment, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and their limitations etc. 4. In depth knowledge including programming and fault finding of PLC’s (Mitsubishi, Siemens S5, S7 and Allan Bradley), HMI’s (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Weintek), dc drives, ac invertor drives, data bus systems (Siemens and Peppryl & Fuchs). 5. Data communication systems. 6. Able to understand ‘modern engineering philosophies’, for example Kaizen, Poke Yoke, 5’s, standardised work, FMEA, ISO14001, TS16949 etc. 7. Degree in Electrical Engineering or BTEC Certificate in Engineering, City & Guilds Electrical Installation Parts I & II or equivalent.

1. Lead by setting a positive example demonstrating enthusiasm and initiative 2. Team player. 3. Excellent verbal and written communicator at all levels of the organisation. 4. Self motivated and proactive at all levels. 5. Time management and planning skills.
EXPERIENCE
1. 3 years post qualification experience. 2. Experience within first or second tier supply automotive. 3. Experience of a pressurised working environment and producing quick and beneficial results.

JUDGEMENT AND DECISIONS
Utilise own judgement as well as collective team judgements before making decisions, ensuring that Health and Safety are not compromised or that the plant, personnel and equipment are not put at risk. Should not be afraid to seek advice from others when required.
