Looking for an exciting job opportunity within prison healthcare?

HMP Wealstun is a Cat C training prison for prisoners serving 1-4 years, with an operational capacity of 832. There is no in-patient unit but has 10 wings throughout the prison.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

We’ll utilise the wellbeing model to put patient care and safety at the heart of everything we do through assessing prisoners across 5 domains of; physical and mental wellbeing, substance misuse, relationships and resettlement. The patient and clinician complete a wellbeing wheel assessment to set goals and outcomes in partnership. The patient will complete the assessment and any needs identified will be met by our fully integrated service delivery team.

To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Wealstun, we’re looking for a Pharmacy Technician to come and join our team.

About the Job:

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist with the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high quality prison pharmaceutical service within the Care UK cluster of prisons based on National (Divisional) policies supported with local standard operating protocols, taking into consideration, at all times, the need to maintain a high level of security.
The post holder will be required to support the delivery of Pharmacy Services which will be part be of a comprehensive healthcare package, based on the prison service’s needs. The Pharmacy Technician will be an integral member of the Pharmacy Team, who forms part of the wider cluster of Healthcare Services. Care UK policies and procedures and statutory frameworks governing patient care in a prison setting, will be used in order to deliver the highest standard of care to clients in line with National Guidelines.

The Job Requirements:

You may be required to accept certain activities in relation to the day to day operational management of their unit and as such must ensure that they are trained and competent to take on these additional responsibilities. The successful candidate will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualifications and have a current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council to be considered for this role. You will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week across 7 days a week on rotational basis including weekends.
