The successful candidate will have the relevant skills and experience specified below for this short term temporary contract (7 weeks) based in East: Bircham Newton. This assignment sits inside of IR35.
Job Description: Proactive management of IT systems, to ensure that potentially service impacting issues are detected and resolved before they affect customers or IT service. To ensure all IT systems are backed up securely and that the data is demonstrably recoverable.To implement, validate and maintain disaster recovery procedures to ensure that all IT systems can be restored within agreed timescales in the event of an incident or major disaster. To carry out capacity planning activities on IT systems, making recommendations as to how and when the operational infrastructure should be changed in order to maximise service availability. Ensuring that all operational exceptions are resolved appropriately, and ensuring that preventative measures are implemented. To perform detailed analysis of IT system events and incidents, where the data available is highly complex and may contain conflicting information or indicators. Identifying performance trends and their causes, and implementing mechanisms to improve service delivery to IT customers. To validate the provision of all new systems delivered from other IT departments, or external suppliers, ensuring that they are appropriately documented and tested and will interoperate in a known way with existing systems and infrastructure. To ensure that change control methodologies are developed, adhered to and maintained on all IT systems. To stay abreast of industry standards and research new technologies, understanding how they can best be incorporated into the operational infrastructure and developing solutions to deliver the strategic aims of IT.
• Maintain service levels for operational support and overall system availability in specialist areas • Maintain security of ICT systems and data to ensure continued business operation and compliance • Provide 2nd level application support within a comprehensive ITIL framework, managing progress escalations using appropriate service management tools. • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the support and provision of all Information Systems. • Provide technical guidance to all ICT system users and to IS Management • Identifies and co-ordinates the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures to resolve complex technical issues • Provide test function to support the ‘release’ of new ICT systems and Infrastructure • Monitor and manage key application systems and processes including Backups, availability and capacity and system administration. • Administration of staff changes on all live business systems, often involving complex security models. • Escalation of issues to third party suppliers of systems, and management of the issues to successful resolutions. • Assessing the impact of, and undertaking system and configuration changes, adhering to the department’s change request process. • Production of work instructions, support documentation, knowledge base articles, and training materials. • Delivery of changes to live environments, as required. • Training on business applications, where this function is not performed by the business.
• Microsoft or equivalent qualifications desirable • Technical experience in supporting applications, system administration. • Understanding of ITIL processes. ITIL v3 Foundation preferable • Ability to lead the resolution of difficult or complex technical and operational problems, and to provide clear guidance to management, staff and users. • Experience in defining IT policies and procedures including security information relating to systems, information management and standard operating practices. • Experience in administering SQL Server databases. • Experience in writing complex SQL queries and scripts. • Experience of using automation and configuration management tools • Hands on experience of code and script writing (Powershell desirable) • Extensive experience of supporting the Microsoft Suite including Office 365 • Understanding of web administration and web technologies • Understanding of Windows server tasks • Awareness or experience in underpinning technologies, including Citrix, Active Directory, scripting, Crystal reports. • Experience of working with cloud hosted services (Azure preferable) including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS • Strong analytical skills • Experience of working within a Waterfall and Agile methodology preferable.The successful candidate will have a valid DBS or be willing to apply for one on CV submission.
