My client are a global technology firm who are seeking a talented 3rd Line Support Engineer to join their newly formed team in Oxford. The 3rd Line Support Engineer is a project-based research and development role that will see the successful 3rd Line Support Engineer playing a key role in the implementation of various products and infrastructures into cloud based environment. The ideal Junior AWS Engineer candidate will have significant engineering experience (as a Systems AWS Engineer or Cloud / Infrastructure Engineer) and be a team player, used to working in a collaborative environment. This new Junior AWS Engineer position offers excellent opportunities to be a vital part business-critical greenfield projects and have real impact in the future of growing global business.

The 3rd Line Support Engineer / Cloud Implementation Analyst is a unique role in which the successful candidate will be expected to assist Level 2 Systems Engineers in the resolution of major incidents or problems should they be escalated. Being a Cloud Implementation Analyst / 3rd Line Support Engineer, you will bridge the gap between engineering and support by sharing knowledge and providing guidance to other engineers, on the design, implementation, migration and troubleshooting of the current technology platforms.

The following commercial experience is required for the 3rd Line Support Engineer role:

  • Good experienced working as a Systems Engineer (ideally with cloud infrastructure – AWS, Azure)
  • Excellent technical skills and experience gained from working within complex (Enterprise) infrastructure projects. You must be able to demonstrate how you’ve supported large scale migrations/transformations programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience in translating high level technical architectures and service design requirements into a clear and coherent low-level designs.
  • Significant experience of infrastructure and application architectures, particularly with respect to cloud services, automation techniques leading to consistent delivery and to high levels of quality.
  • Good understanding of security best practices, particularly in relation to software patching, data leakage prevention and encryption.
  • The technical skills required for this 3rd Line Support Engineer role include:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, ADFS, SSO and cloud based identity management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services IaaS – workload migrations, VPC design, connectivity solutions etc
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 and Hyper-V to support regional office locations, including on-premise and cloud based file serving.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows network protocols including DNS, DHCP, WINS, LDAP
  • Knowledge of tracking assets and deploying software using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools i.e) System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • Knowledge of security technologies and strategies, including the use of web and email content filtering, public key infrastructure, drive encryption, patch management and AV best practices.
  • The following skills are desired as:

    • Cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS and AWS.
    • Advanced knowledge of security technologies and strategies, including the use of web and email content filtering, public key infrastructure, drive encryption, patch management and AV best practices.
    • Integration experience of Windows and OS X file systems, desktops, laptops and mobile devices.
    • Implementing and supporting Office 365, including Lync/Skype for Business, PSTN connectivity and Cloud PBX in a global organisation.
    • MDM technologies & BYOD strategy
    • Knowledge of implementing and supporting Office 365, including Lync/Skype for Business, PSTN connectivity and Cloud PBX in a global organisation.
