£49,133 (including Distant Islands Allowance) (Subject to Job Sizing)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled school leader who is committed to improvement and excellence. You will have substantial experience at PT level, or above, and in whole school developments, and you may be required to participate in and/or lead whole authority developments. You will have worked well in a team, delivering key aspects of learning and teaching, staff development and administration. You will have a proven track-record of excellent working relationships with staff, pupils, parents and members of the wider community.

Stromness Academy is a six year secondary school in Orkney with a catchment area covering the town of Stromness and the West Mainland. The current school roll is 343 pupils. The school is on a well appointed campus situated in Stromness. The school serves a dispersed population and over two thirds of the pupils are bussed into school. This Community School was built in the early 1980s and has been kept in excellent condition and is extremely well resourced. Classrooms are well equipped and the school has extensive playing fields, including a synthetic grass pitch, and access to the local swimming pool.

Salary is based on Point 3 of the Head Teachers and Depute Head Teachers scale, plus a Distant Islands Allowance. We offer a generous relocation package of up to £8,000.

You must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
