We are looking for an engineering team lead for our multi-disciplinary Fintech/payments company. Fintech builds, maintains and develops the world’s leading fundraising and crowdfunding payment platform. they manage a yearly throughput of millions of transactions internationally and are growing at double digit rates, supporting a base of over 20milion registered users and a network of 11,000+.

They are building on a state-of-the-art financial platform to support our expansion into new markets and maintain our position as top payments player in our field. They write code that moves money, and care about high availability, security and optimising payment performance. Your primary responsibility will be the successful delivery of an ambitious roadmap that sits at the heart of the business. You will ensure alignment to the right goals, create a sense of ownership around targets, and ensure the team is motivated, as well as provide technical direction and guidance. You will also be involved in cross-team initiatives and positively impact the wider technology group.

You will be tasked with:

  • Working very closely with the Head of Fintech to plan projects, scope and deliveries
  • Providing leadership for a team of 8+ engineers
  • Helping the team stay focused to deliver value at a sustainable pace
  • Being hands-on technical and reviewing team members code
  • Advocating good software craftsmanship practices
  • Knowing what good agile delivery looks like and applying it everyday
  • Mentoring and guiding the technical, professional and personal development of team members
  • Keeping individual team members motivated
  • Providing continuous feedback, recognising opportunities for progression and addressing underperformance
  • Aligning team objectives with business direction
  • Owning talent recruitment, on-boarding and retention of team members
  • Collaborating effectively with other teams such as UXD, DevOps, Database, Analytics
  • Working with the tech management team to align technical choices across the teams

The suitable candidate will have the following:

  • Solid experience in distributed systems at scale, preferably within the Fintech/Payments space
  • 5+ years of C# .NET development
  • 2+ years of modern JavaScript exposure (React, Redux and Node.js)
  • Has used best-of-breed techniques and architectures (e.g. DDD/Event Driven Architecture, TDD/BDD, REST, SOA/micro-services, CQRS)
  • Extensive experience developing code that runs within a cloud environment (preferably AWS)
  • Thorough understanding of CI, as well as advocating the value of automated builds and tests
  • A quality-first approach where you write code driven by tests
  • A continuous improvement mind-set in all areas (code, architecture, processes)
  • Experience with best-of-breed techniques and architectures
  • Solid experience working in an agile environment

You should demonstrate the following:
