Our client has gained the reputation for producing some of the world's most innovative and inspiring architectural hardware; design led they currently export to the USA, Europe, Australia and the Far East. They currently have a fantastic opportunity for a candidate to join them in a very busy and varied role. The person will be working as an Exhibition Stand Builder In-House / Metal Finisher / Machine Operator / Bench Fitter. The role is challenging and varied and would suit someone with general carpentry and metalworking skills who has also worked in manufacturing and warehouses – someone who has good all-round DIY Skills. About the job…

The Mechanical Engineering Technician will have a varied role including: Exhibition Stand Building in-house / Metal Finishing / Machine Operating / Bench Fitting will be responsible for a wide range of duties and will be a positive person who is happy to be flexible and adaptable in their work. The duties will be varied but will include:

Display Board construction x approximately 250 per year and many more.
• Working with existing craftsman to measure, lay out and fix door handles, etc to display boards for customers to present.
• Production of display boards and exhibition equipment.

Metal work machining.
• Cutting and milling of brass work, experience would be very beneficial but not essential.
• This part of the job will develop over time.
• Use of machine tools including experience of precision measuring equipment.

Other duties would include:
• Machining of component parts using:
o Pedestal drill
o Compact milling machine
o Linishing machine
o Grindstone
o Power hacksaw
o Power handtools
• Planishing / Vapour blasting.
• Machine maintenance and repairs.
• Factory building fabric and plant maintenance and repairs.
• Assembly and bench fitting of product.

The Right Person…

• Skills of hand and bench fitting essential.
• Carpentry or general building skills an advantage as would be any engineering metal work skills.
• Punctual and hardworking. Good problem solver, ability to think on their feet.
• Organised, tidy and keen eye for detail.
• Good sense of humour, ability to get on well with others, very important.


• Excellent salary of £22k + bonus.
• Hours 8am to 4.30pm (half hour lunch) Flexible during exhibition builds.
