Blue Coat School Church of England School and Music College
Head of Business & Economics
TLR 2d (£4,545)
Full Time, Permanent
Required from September 2017

Blue Coat is a supportive, successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry. As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas. Consequently we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in June 2016 and continues to perform exceptionally well academically. Our average grade at GCSE is B- and our Progress 8 score is +0.3. The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.

At Blue Coat we are determined to provide an engaging and rigorous Business Studies & Economics curriculum that both enthuses students and enables them to pursue the subjects to the full extent of their ability. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming team with a culture of collaboration and teamwork that creates a lively and stimulating working environment.

Blue Coat Church of England School and Music College seeks to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to lead this thriving department. The successful candidate will teach GCSE Business to students in Years 9, 10 and 11 and A-Level or a vocational qualification at KS5. There is also a strong uptake of Economics at A-Level. The Department follows the OCR specification in both KS4 and KS5. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and talented classroom practitioner with a proven record of academic success to become fully involved in the continued development of the subject and in the wider life of this dynamic and thriving school.

Applicants should have high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour, excellent organisation and time management skills and should enjoy working as part of a small, committed team. The school has excellent cross-curricular and pastoral programmes and the successful candidate will be expected to play a full part in these.
