The Role

We are currently looking to recruit a Marketing and Business Development Manager to be based in ourbeutiful and modernBirmingham City Centre office. This is a permanent, full time role.

This broad based role will incorporate a full marketing and business development mix and will provide management and support to the Marketing and Business Development Committee (BDMC) and to the firm as a whole - as well as overseeing a Marketing Assistant. The role will involve frequent travel/interaction/video conferences between all Forresters offices as well as attending various networking and marketing events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic and operational development of the Marketing and Business Development function in Forresters.
  • Close management of BDMC budget expenditure and work with the BDMC committee to produce year on year forecasts.
  • Social Media and Website Management
  • Liaising with third party suppliers regarding branding, PR, events, etc.
  • Event management - arranging all logistics from seminars to drinks receptions, etc.
  • Managing, developing and coaching the Marketing Assistant.
  • Regular travel to the London (monthly), Liverpool (bi-monthly) and Munich (annually) office - or as required.
  • Maintain and manage all templates across all media and thereby maintain brand integrity and consistency, while ensuring everyone is adhering to the Style Guide.
  • Producing / designing advertisements, in house newsletters, seminar materials and other marketing collateral.
  • Targeting and assisting with presenting and pitching to new clients / monitoring pitch results and effectiveness

  • Alternative marketing strategies and advice to the Partners.
  • Keeping abreast of new marketing techniques.
  • Identifying and maintaining a list/database of high-profile clients and high-profile cases in which the Firm has been involved through the CRM database (InterAction)
  • Managing the e-marketing software which integrates with InterAction
  • Implementing and tracking CRM activity / reporting to partners as necessary
  • Maintaining PR activity (including liaising with external PR firms) and researching new opportunities for relevant publications
  • Assisting with PR agency activity
  • Reporting statistics / client performance / acquisition to the BDMC
  • Reviewing and prioritising all sponsorship and speaking opportunities to the promote the firm in a cost-effective way
  • Assisting and promoting cross-selling and referrals (internal and external)
  • Assisting with overseas promotional travel planning, reporting effectiveness and budget management

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ideally at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a Patent and Trade Mark firm or a similar legal firm.
  • Experience must include proactive support and development of strategic and operational aspects of a BDMC department.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and influencing skills
  • Proven track record of successfully managing marketing campaigns, BDMC projects and networking events, while strictly adhering to a budget.
  • Excellent logical and organised approach.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential.
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Manager software - CRM or similar software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of English language and grammar to produce high quality written work.
  • Professional knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educated to a degree level
  • Relevant Marketing and/or Business Development and/or Communication qualification - e.g. CIM, Diploma in Marketing, Postgraduate Diploma, Marketing Communication Diploma.
