Very keen to speak to IT support specialists for a new role I am working on for a company just north of Chester. It is a brand new position within the company and due to growth of both their onsite team and customer base it is one they need to fill pretty quickly!

We are looking for someone to head up and manage their helpdesk, prioritising tickets and being the main issue resolver for their clients. Highly customer facing role where you will be providing support via phone, email and the occasional remote login. The company itself build and sell web based software and we are looking for someone who can work to fix any issues customers may have.

You’ll be working alongside a team of developers, project managers and testers as well as a software support specialist who focuses on fixing coding issues. What we need is someone who can control the helpdesk via a ticketing system, someone who can project manage bigger fixes by liaising with the developers and keeping the customer up to date throughout. Common issues could include how the software is configured with the customer’s internal infrastructure, such as basic server compatibility issues, clarification on how the software works and subtly pointing out if someone is using it wrong!

We are looking for someone with fairly good SQL skills so you can run queries, there are queries already written so this could just be a case of configuring them. Apache Tomcat skills would be good to have and any Cloud experience would be a bonus as one of their products is hosted on an Azure and AWS platform. There’s five main products you’ll be supporting overall, big pieces of software built entirely by the onsite team. Training will be given on the software before you get stuck in.

Must have skills:

Previous technical support/helpdesk experience - lots of it!

Windows Server

SQL Scripts/Queries

Experience supporting web based applications/software

Jira/Mantis or similar issue tracking tool

Desirable skills include Apache Tomcat, IIS, Web Services and any Cloud computing experience with AWS.
