A global leading, cutting edge Technology Organisation based in Cambridge are looking to bring in a Database Software Engineer to work on their own proprietary database software used throughout the organisation. The software lies at the heart of many of the organisations key engineering products, they enable the modelling of complex engineering and design data, ensuring the integrity of customer data via multi-user access and rapid retrieval. The software is a significant factor in the continuing success.

The code base for the Database team comprises C++, C, C# and Fortran, with the use of Agile Scrum methodology for software development. They require a talented, innovative and motivated candidate for this role who will contribute to the team with new ideas

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and maintenance of database and other core software components
  • Product integration support for consumers of the software components
  • Development and maintenance of the Project Administration capability required for the Design & Engineering product range
  • Participating in peer reviews and architectural discussions
  • Working within a Scrum team with other developers, testers, Scrum Master and Product Owner to ensure software delivery is on time, feature complete and to agreed quality standards
  • Actively participate in all scrum meetings

Desired skills and experience:

  • Background in software development, minimum 2 years’ work experience profile that includes operating in a commercial environment where products must be delivered to scope, budget and schedule
  • Development experience using languages including C++ and/or C
  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or numerate subject analysis and design experience
  • Object oriented programming
  • Working with configuration management tools such as ClearCase and/or TFS
