We are therefore looking to bring on board a confident, pragmatic and commercially focused lawyer who can apply good commercial and legal judgement to decision making and who takes a creative approach to problem solving.
The principle responsibilities are to lead and partner the business in achieving its business performance targets by identifying opportunities and risks (legal and commercial) and by delivering clear and practical strategies and solutions across the International and French Business Unit
As a member of the International Business Unit Executive Team you will be responsible for playing a leadership role in ensuring the success of the business unit against its financial performance targets
The role reports into our Director of Legal, and has line management responsibility for a senior lawyer in France (English speaking).
Accountable for delivery of all legal work required by the International Business Unit and managing Britvic’s French lawyer and acting as a connection point between the Plc and the French Business Units.
The successful candidate would be responsible for the following:
Contracts: Undertaking a pivotal role in negotiating, drafting and reviewing all material contracts (may include sales, distribution, franchise, sponsorship, procurement, loans, outsourcing etc) to best protect the commercial/legal interests of the business and create value where there is the ability to do so;
Corporate: Ability to advise in relation to new business structures and support the expansion of Britvic’s International business into new markets.
Project Management: Managing, controlling and balancing legal, financial and commercial interests in a timely way to deliver business goals and support the business strategy;
Legislative Requirements: Anticipating new legislation in all relevant markets (including tracking implementation of trading sanctions or other limitations on trade) and identifying any resulting risks and opportunities to Britvic. Preparing the business with the tools to comply with all relevant existing and new legislation;
Product launches and marketing: Advising on and managing risk in relation to product launches and advertising and marketing campaigns including assessing the relevant regulatory requirements (in conjunction with Britvic’s Regulatory Team), advising on adverts and promotions and managing relationships with external bodies including representing Britvic’s interest in any matters raised by regulatory bodies, for example, local advertising authorities;
Compliance: Responsible for ensuring compliance with Britvic’s policies within these business units;
Litigation: Implementing procedures to recover debts and manage litigation in the UK and in overseas territories, including arbitration and mediation;
Intellectual Property: Managing the business units’ protection and defence of its intellectual property in collaboration with Britvic’s IP lawyer; and
Ad Hoc Matters: supporting any ad hoc matters where legal support is required.
PLC/GB Ad Hoc Matters: Supporting ad hoc PLC and GB matters where required including property, consumer care support, company secretarial, insolvency, support of the regulatory team and support of supply chain and technical departments (including regulatory matters) and supporting Britvic’s compliance agenda in relation to the implementation and monitoring of its anti-bribery and corruption policy.
We’re looking for a qualified Lawyer who is able to identify and navigate complex legal issues with excellent knowledge of contract, commercial and competition law. Strong partnering skills are essential, previous in-house experience within a commercial role is preferable!
