Our Category Trader team plays a key role in sourcing the best Medication and Health & Wellbeing and OTC products for our Pharmacy business across the UK, and because our customers and patients are at the heart of everything we do, we need to ensure that we have the most skilled and conscientious Category Managers to provide this service for us.

We are now looking to appoint a Category Trader who will be responsible for developing and managing the OTC Category Plans and promotional activity in order to enable successful delivery of KPIs of margin, sales, cash & stock. Being part of this team involves working closely with the Trading & Marketing teams, as well as cross functionally with a range of Key Stakeholders within Celesio.

The successful candidates will leverage tactical activities to ensure that the category plan remains on track, through continuous re-evaluation and re-forecasting activities as well as regular performance reviews conducted with key suppliers and internal contacts.

You will also be charged with delivering annual promotion plans, ensuring pricing strategies are consistently accurate, and providing a varied offer of the category range, which effectively provides for our business and customer requirements.

For this role we are looking for someone with previous category management and retail buying/trading experience both instore and online within the multiple retail sector. You will have a proven track record in meeting and exceeding, sales, profitability and category exit targets.

It is important for this role that you can effectively utilise market data to drive decision making for product development, ranging and pricing decisions.

You should also be quite comfortable engaging with senior managers and suppliers, and be a strong communicator and influencer with good analytical and data manipulation skills.


This role is based at our Support Centre in Coventry, Walsgrave Triangle, CV2 2TX. We are located just off junction 2 of the M6, easily accessible by car. If using public transport, we are 5.5 miles from Coventry train station, approx. 40 minutes by bus from the station.
