Square Peg Associates is currently recruiting for a commercially driven Procurement professional to work with a successful manufacturing firm based in Accrington. The business is experiencing significant success in their market and on the back of this growth; require a Procurement Officer to help expand their operation.


The role will oversee the following responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the busy external sales force to swiftly deliver procurement services
  • Involves sourcing of bespoke or non repeat products, managing contracts and supplier relationships
  • Gaining business sign off for all procurement initiatives and project implementation
  • Undertaking due diligence so that 'preferred’ suppliers satisfy selection criteria/benchmarks
  • Vast liaison across both internal and external suppliers
  • Analysis of spend and delivery on savings
  • Overview, review and improvement of procurement systems and operations
  • The ability to multi task in a fast paced environment with a flexible approach to changing work priorities at short notice
  • A highly self-motivated person, with the ability to working alone as well as being a strong team player


  • Proven knowledge and hands-on experience of Procurement, Purchasing, Buying
  • The ability to quickly understand detailed supply requirements
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working within a procurement function
  • Effective influencing and persuasions skills in order to build fruitful working relationships
  • A keen eye for detail, effective time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Solid IT skills, use of MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel would be advantageous
