The Hinkley Point C Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. During the business construction phase over 5,600 people will work on the site. The project marks the rebirth of the UK’s nuclear industry and will present invaluable opportunities for Somerset, the South West and wider UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest and most significant construction and infrastructure projects in Europe.
Working in one of the Programme Controls Teams as part of the Risk, Opportunity, Trend & Change (ROTC) Discipline of Project Controls.


• Support the Project Controls Manager in the implementation and maintenance of Project Controls processes for ROTC, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis;
• Collaborate with other Disciplines of Project Controls, as well as other Project Support Functions, to help deliver Project goals in keeping with the HPC principles of Trust, Transparency and Teamwork;
• Maintain an awareness of risks and opportunities in other Programmes and their potential impact.

• Knowledge of using R&OM frameworks and methodologies, and how they are applied in the strategic and operational management of a major infrastructure project;
• Knowledge of Project Controls disciplines and processes for programme and project management in a major infrastructure environment;
• Ability to understand and use risk management software;
• High level of analytical and numerical skills;
• Good attention to detail;
• High standard of interpersonal skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Knowledge of estimating, scheduling and cost management techniques and associated software;
• Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques in a UK context;
• Understanding of various contract types, in particular the NEC suite and FIDIC;
• Good commercial awareness;
• The ability to build relationships both internally and externally;

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or other related field;
• ROTC management qualifications and certifications (e.g. CIRM, APM);
• Proven relevant experience in a Project Management or Project Controls environment in a similar Risk & Opportunity role;
• Experience of undertaking quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis and presentation of risk data;
• Experience in the use of risk management software systems such as ARM, Safran and @risk.
• Experience in the operation and management of an R&OM framework.

• Degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or other related field;
• Professionally qualified with chartered or equivalent status;
• Experience in the use of a scheduling tool such as Primavera P6;
• Experience in the use of a trend and change management tool such as EcoSys;
• Experience on a major construction project;
• Experience in the Nuclear sector.

Rate £150 to £225 per day PAYE (+ 33 days paid leave). Closing date 24/06/17
