The job:

The position will be taking place from the 1st of September, up until Christmas time, with the opportunity to go permanent for the new year. The role will be to teach in the schools autistic unit, to a range of pupils aged from nursery right up to school leavers, so ideally the successful candidate will have a PGCE in secondary in order to cover teaching primary key stage too. The rate of pay is negotiable for the right candidate, and can be listed anywhere between ?100 - ?120 per day.

The school:
Based in Pontypridd, our client is a local school for children with severe learning difficulties and those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The school provides a caring, safe, stimulating environment, for all pupils challenging them to achieve their maximum potential through equal access to an appropriate, individual and relevant curriculum. The school caters for children from Nursery age right through to School Leavers therefore they have a Nursery, Primary Department, Secondary Department and Autistic Department. The school can provide good quality links within the local community, and they fully utilise using all the local facilities that are on offer. The schools intention is to promote the well being of their pupil?s, their families, their own staff and their visitors.

The children:
The children at this school vary on different levels of learning abilities, and therefore classes are made up of pupils capability, rather than age. The successful candidate will have experience and a good knowledge of working with children with autism in particular, but also other additional learning needs as well such as; dyslexia, dyspraxia, social and emotional behavioural disorders, severe and moderate learning difficulties. Challenging behaviour can seen here, and the control and restraint the school utilise is Team Teach. Team Teach training is something that Randstad Education can provide. The right candidate should possess an enthusiastic and motivated approach to learning, whilst creating a safe and stimulating environment for the children.
