The Client
The Green Recruitment Company are currently working alongside a multinational utility company who are looking to recruit an Energy Engineer to join their growing team. Although it would be beneficial, this role doesn’t require previous energy management experience, just a building services/ M&E background and a desire to want to get involved in the sector. All relevant training will be provided for the right candidate.
The Role
• The role brings specialist knowledge of the implementation of low carbon technologies to develop energy solutions from concept stage through to completion.
• The candidate will provide vital professional building services and project management expertise in support of various current and potential Energy Performance Contracts across the UK.
• The successful applicant will support the identification and development of low carbon / energy conservation proposals in a retrofit environment.
• In addition the successful candidate will provide vital building services design and co-ordination support for the measures from conception though implementation to operation.
Candidate Responsibilities
• To support the identification and development of varied innovate energy saving solutions that reference latest best practice.
• To carry out opportunity assessments to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) in line with defined success criteria leading to the provision of high level indicative savings and costs to enable measures to be prioritised for detailed audit.
• Carry out detailed audits (site and desktop) in order to support robust auditable savings calculations and robust implementation costs that can both be guaranteed.
• To manage the delivery of energy saving work packages from Investment Grade Audit stage through to technical design completion.
• To support the creation of design briefs and performance specifications for the measures allowing the competitive tendering of the works by third parties.
• Support the delivery team to ensure measures are implemented and delivered in line with the design brief/performance specification.
• The review and approval of output provided by others.
• Liaison with necessary contracted specialists as required. Support tender analysis and assist in the selection of sub-contractors.
• Collection of necessary building / system performance data.
• Attendance at team, contract, site and general staff meetings.
• Keep abreast of current regulatory requirements, technical solutions, and continued engagement with other team members to ensure continued use of best practice solutions.
• Ensure all quality management & document management systems are adhered to at all times and assist in their continued improvement.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects to deadline.
• Being proactive with on-going sales process - supporting Business Development activities with pre-qualification, presentation and proposal support, attend customer dialogue sessions.
• Strong engagement with client representatives, at tactical level, operator/energy manager, maintenance technician and site supervisor level. Participation in customer insight meetings, joint working groups and solution / opportunity workshops.

The Person
Knowledge and Qualifications
• Candidates should be educated to a Bachelor’s degree or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience.
• Experienced in developing and implementing low carbon / energy saving opportunities in a retrofit environment desirable.
• Experienced in preparing design briefs and performance specifications.
• A broad understanding of energy conservation / low carbon measures in relation to building fabric, building operation and renewable technologies.
Essential Skills
• Planning & coordination skills, developing & adhering to resource plans and timetables
• Develop effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers
• Ability to understand the impact of an Energy Performance Guarantee
• Numeric & IT literate, proficient in MS Office suite and in particular Excel (intermediate).
• Proactive approach to dealing with clients, suppliers, partners and colleagues. The ability to provide and deliver sound technical input both internally and externally to all levels.
• Aspiration to identify HVAC energy conservation measures and to be able to calculate savings from first principles.
• An excellent knowledge of all aspects of the operation, design, specification and implementation of building services / low carbon technologies together with a thorough understanding of energy saving principles and best practices.
