My client is a market-leading manufacturer and supplier of anti-pollution and safety marine breakaway couplings and camlock couplings for offshore fluid transfer operations. Their world class products have become an industry standard with a reputation for quality and reliability.

These are exciting times and as part of their ambitious growth plan; they are looking to appoint a Sales Manager. Customer facing sales experience in engineering, industrial capital equipment in Africa is essential. Oil & Gas sector experience would be an advantageous, as would an engineering background and/or qualification.

With an Engineering, Sales Engineer or Project Engineer background you will develop the sales of products (all client products) and services (Refurbishment) in the African region and maintain relationships with end users, agents, local contractors.

There will be a requirement for foreign travel in Africa primarily to visit existing and new customers/agents. You will be also required to visit other territories outside Africa where necessary. You will be expected to travel according to the needs of the business.


Responsible for managing the African region, you will be expected to prepare quotations and respond to customers queries. After a training period on their products and services, you will be expected to travel to train agents and visit customers in the specified region as per the business needs. You will be responsible for achieving your regional sales budget while maintaining acceptable gross margins. A regular review of agents’ performance will be required.

You will be also requested to develop “brown” territories by searching and appointing new agents to support business development activities as well as introducing new products.

Other duties:

Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
Evaluate threat levels and limit competitor success; provide feedback and support competitor strategy.
Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports/forecasts, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports.
Support Sales team and Marketing Manager to produce new marketing collateral.
Actively look for Group cross selling opportunities and support where necessary.

Degree / HND Mechanical Engineering Qualification
GCSE (or equivalent) A-C in English and Maths
Telesales/Sales Experience
Admin/Data Entry Experience

International travel experience
Travel experience in Africa
French speaking - desirable
Knowledge of CRM systems
Experience within the OIL & Gas Industry
Minimum of 3 Years Proven Sales Track Record
Proficient Use of Microsoft Office Suite
