A popular and successful boys independent school in the South Buckinghamshire area is looking for a teacher of Biology to start in September 2018. The ethos is the school is friendly, but high importance is placed on both academic and sporting acheivement.

The schools caters for pupils up to the age of 16 years so the role would be to teach Biology from Key stage 3 (KS3) up to GCSE (KS4).

A teacher is responsible for the learning of the group of boys through teaching lessons involving different strategies to engage effectively with the pupils, ensuring that schemes of work are covered throughout the year, assessments take place according to the school’s policy and that pupils’ welfare is given the utmost attention. They currently teach the Edexcel specification Biology at GCSE.

Desirable qualities that they seek in their teachers:
• Good people skills, and an understanding of how young people think and feel;
• Discretion and confidentiality;
• An understanding of the ethos of a boys’ independent school;
• A willingness to give up time above and beyond contracted hours when necessary;
• A good role model for those they teach;

You will need to be able to work accurately and efficiently and have excellent subject knowledge of Biology and general Science. Competent ICT skills are essential and an ability to represent the ethos of the school to all students, staff and parents.
