The Role:

Working within a multidiscipline Engineering team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for all Mechanical aspects of the organisation’s products, taking designs from concept through prototyping and then into production. The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform design calculations, create and maintain all necessary technical product documentation and monitor an engineering change record to ensure product updates are captured effectively.

Job Functions:

- Design of electro-mechanical components and products.
- Creation of concepts for new product development based on either self-generated or customer generated specifications.
- Facilitation of new developments through frequent liaison with production engineers and manufacturing staff.
- Generation of manufacturing documentation including drawings, BOMs and work instructions according to company standards.
- Interaction with both customers and suppliers including specification definition and general problem-solving.

Essential Skills:

• 3D CAD modeling parts and assemblies (Ideally SolidWorks)
• Electro-mechanical design experience/design electro-mechanical products
• Have an understanding of pressure and how to perform pressure calculations.
• Design for manufacture and assembly.
• Production of manufacturing drawings and documentation.

Supplementary Skills:

• Experience in the packaging of electronic sensors for harsh environments.
• Design of pressurised gas or fluid systems.
• Appreciation of the ATEX directive.
• Design of welded assemblies.
• Design of swaged assemblies.
• Design of machined metal parts.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software.
• Understanding of design for static polymer seals.
• Materials selection, chemical compatibility, and testing.
• Able to produce drawings to BS8888 standard.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software.
• Understanding of design for static polymer seals.
