An opportunity has arisen for a Nightshelter Assistant Co-ordinator at this Council. Northampton's Multi Agency Rough Sleepers Strategy 'Together we change lives - ending the need for people to sleep rough in Northampton' is extremely ambitious.

The provision of an emergency nightshelter - with the capacity to offer all local rough sleepers emergency shelter until they can move into more settled housing - is a vital component of our strategy for tackling, preventing and reducing rough sleeping.

They are now looking to recruit an excellent team player to help the Co-ordinator to manage the day-to-day operation of the nightshelter, organise the rota, support a large team of volunteers and improve guests' life chances.

To meet the requirements of this key role, you must be able to work outside normal office hours, including 3 night shifts a week and some Saturdays and Sundays.

With a track record of successful joint working, you will have excellent organisational skills, be able to work on your own initiative and work well under pressure. Ideally, you will have experience of working with people who are sleeping rough, ex-offenders and/or people with substance misuse or mental health issues.

As the role involves working with vulnerable adults and young people, the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

In this role the successful candidate will help the Nightshelter Co-ordinator to manage the Nightshelter in a way in which it tackles, prevents and reduces rough sleeping and ends the need for people to sleep rough in Northampton.

Duties will include: -
- Ensure the Nightshelter is well managed
- Help the Nightshelter Co-ordinator to direct, lead, motivate and support a large team of volunteers and sure the Nightshelter runs smoothly
- Develop and maintain close working relations with a broad cross-section of services
- Work collaboratively and proactively with other services and organisations to ensure that the way in which dealing with people rough or at risk
- Meet regularly with Nightshelter Co-ordination to discuss day-to-day operations of the Nightshelter
