The client
Our client are a global giant in the provision of energy and energy services. They are looking to add to their already up and running district heating capabilities by hiring a Business Development Manager to join their growing sales team.

The role
The Business Development Manager will lead the development of new district energy opportunities from initial contact to financial close, working closely with the Operations, Project, Legal and Commercial teams. You will promote and undertake district energy and related consultancy services (including engineering feasibility and commercial viability studies) as a means of developing relationships and projects, with support from the Project Engineering team.
You will promote our client’s district energy activities across the UK both internally and externally, working closely with the communications team.

Candidate duties and responsibilities
The role includes the following duties and responsibilities;
• Overall responsibility for the development of new district energy schemes from initial concept, through tendering to financial close
• Oversee the bid process from initial interest through to the development of detailed proposals for new schemes including managing interfaces and resources from other parts of energy services (engineering, finance etc)
• Manage the governance process for submission of bids and entering into contracts
• Negotiate energy services and associated district energy and energy supply agreements with customers in close liaison with central Commercial and Legal teams.
• Attend meetings with potential customers as required and act as the senior point of contact
• Lead the co-ordination of development activities relating to new UK district energy schemes including;
o Maintain and report on an up to date sales pipeline in an agreed format
o Develop and maintain relevant case studies
o Maintain up to date bid library for proposals, PQQ, standard responses
o Maintain up to date presentations in a suitable format
• Line management of day to day activity of the Assistant Business Development Manager, including annual Performance Development Review (PDR)

Candidate Requirements
• Extensive customer facing / relationship building expertise, to work directly with
• senior customers
• Technical knowledge of energy efficiency, CHP and/or district energy
• Ability to interpret legal agreements, extrapolate data and understand complex

• Ability to work / interface directly with key customers, external stakeholders and
