As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will work within a busy Finance team of eight working alongside a CFO, Group Financial Controller, Management Accountant and two Accounts Assistants in addition to the Head of Commercial Finance, Finance Business Partner and Reporting Analyst.

You will be responsible for working effectively within the team, assisting with the preparation and production of the Group company accounts, managing and maintaining financial records, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines.

Key Skills and Responsibilities

 Timely preparation and production of accurate management accounts for certain Group companies adhering to strict monthly deadlines
 Assisting the Management Accountant in the production of the Consolidated monthly financial statements pack (covering P&L, Balance sheet, cash flow and other key financial information)
 Provision of analysis and commentary on financial matters both on a regular and ad-hoc basis (overhead and variance analysis)
 Assisting in the production of year end accounts with active involvement in the preparation for the audit
 Responsible, with support of the Management Accountant, for the management and maintenance of well-maintained and supported ledgers across all Group companies
 Required to be actively involved in the day to day transactional processing for the Group to cover both sales and purchase ledger and credit control
 Involvement in completing and compiling Group wide VAT returns
Essential Skills
 Either finalist/fully qualified AAT looking to move to ACCA/CIMA in the future
 Relevant experience of a similar role in an SME environment, exposure to preparing or working towards preparing management accounts
 Must be an advanced user of Excel.
 Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy daily workload in a fast-paced environment
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business, including senior stakeholders
 Confident and a strong team player and keen to get involved in helping the wider team in particular the accounts assistants
 Experience and confidence using accounting software SAGE and Microsoft packages such as Microsoft Word
 Must be flexible, adaptable with a ‘can do’ attitude and willing to learn and understand a complex business and apply this knowledge to the workload
 Excellent attention to detail and methodical
 Good use of initiative and able to work autonomously or as part of a busy team

Desirable skills
 Experience in a similar role in a reporting focused group environment
 Experience of cross geographical locations in a group environment
