Financial Accountant / Group Accountant
£38,000 – £45,000

Financial Accountants can often be the unsung heroes of a finance function. For this one we need a Brian May – someone technically gifted, someone with intellectual horsepower (did you know Brian has a degree in Astrophysics?) who can put the hours in but who won’t be afraid of the limelight.

Often the FA role can be isolated – ‘tagged on’ to the wider finance team to mop up the statutory requirements that might cause a catastrophic headache if they are inaccurate but can be perceived as too ‘dry’ or ‘techy’…

You can sometimes find yourself shielded from the more commercial management accounting and ultimately from the wider business. The organisation I met earlier don’t have this view of the role. The FD absolutely recognises it is pivotal and that the incumbent needs recognition and career opportunity swiftly. They see it as a role which absolutely involves business partnering and profiling. So if you are looking for a step from practice or a step from another financial accounting role into the light then we would welcome the chance to speak.
The business operates at a fast pace – they need to be able to make key decisions based on being well informed. That means that the board completely rely on the accuracy, timeliness and business insight provided by the financial accounting team.

Your role will involve:
• Management accounts preparation and delivery
• Statutory accounting
• Review of processes and procedures, instilling robust controls.
• Review of compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Intercompany reporting
• Review of balance sheet integrity
• Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
• Budget holder interaction.

The role would be an excellent platform for a newly qualified ACA / ACCA seeking a step from a high profile practice into a profitable and ambitious group
